Land Usage
The majority of Toronto's land is covered by residential areas. Residential areas are areas that are designed for people to live in. There are also many parks and recreational areas. However, there is minimal open space throughout the Toronto area. Due to the rapid urbanization that has occurred throughout the twentieth century, the amount of rural land is minimal.

Commercial area is evenly spread out throughout all of the Toronto area. The largest of it being in the downtown core central business district. Due to the high population density the actual area devoted to commercial use is relatively small. Most of the government and institutional area is in the North York district. The majority of the residential areas are spread throughout Toronto, North York, and York districts. Resource and industrial areas are mainly in North York and to the North of Etobicoke. Toronto sits on the shoreline of Lake Ontario, but waterbody in the Toronto Area is very minimal.

How Much Rural & Urban Land is Used
Rural land use is very small in Toronto, since Toronto is such an urban city. Most of Toronto is shopping, skyscrapers, and lots of people.
